The first days of Winter are here…
- It seems like only yesterday that we were sweltering through the hot days of summer.
- Autumn too is now behind us as we slip an icy toe into the first days of winter. And as winter kicks in we notice a huge shift in what customers are buying.
- Cucumbers and salads slow while leeks, swedes, turnips, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli surge. Luckily for us the mild autumn has meant that our growers have good volumes of these winter lines and quality is great. Spinach, silver beet, and broccolini are also excellent and pricing has been good
- Victorian Strawberries are coming to the end and Tuesday next week will most likely be the last batch of The Corbet Families Old Oak Orchards strawberries. We have already started to transition to some Queensland fruit and quality is excellent though not fully flavored yet. Blue berries and raspberries have been in short supply so I was pleased to get some more affordable fruit this morning at market.
- We also have new season nuts! Chestnuts, macadamias in the shell and local Hesket hazel nuts.
- The winter Aussie citrus season is going well with all types of mandarins currently available. Tangold, imperial, daisy, Nova and satsuma are all on the menu. Navels are sweet and plentiful. Blood oranges and Seville oranges are still about three or four weeks away. We will keep you posted so you don’t miss out.
- Top buys this week (while stocks last) are:
- Raspberries $3.99 pun
- Blueberries, standard $5.99 pun
- Flat Mushrooms $4.99kg
- Big beautiful cauliflowers $2.99 ea
- Baby Broccolini $2.99 bunch
- New season Pink Lady apples $2.99kg
- As always we will work closely with our growers and team to deliver great food as affordably as possible and we thank all of our customers for their amazing ongoing support, without you we don't exist.

Cheers, Dean
