Market Prices are on a Roller Coaster

This week -

  • Market Prices have seen a fair bit of fluctuation especially in Brassica lines like Broccoli & Cauliflower as, believe it or not, supply can be affected by the full moon, when broccoli will flush quicker.  But we have also seen Broccoli arrive down from Qld, depressing the Melbourne wholesale price.  However, Vic Producers are giving us the best quality due to shorter distance to market.
  • Blueberries have started to hit peak production and represent terrific value for the next few weeks.  Good eating varieties with excellent flavour & crunch are hitting our shelves.

  • Raspberries also came back in price a little and Strawberries are just like the roller coaster - up and down on a daily basis due to supply.

  • Victorian Asparagus is slowly increasing in production but still holding high prices

  • It’s time to think about taking Brussell Sprouts off the menu as the Victorian season comes to an end.  Sprouts will be coming across from WA but will reflect much high prices.

  • Tropical fruit such as Mangoes & Pineapples are slowly coming down in price and
  • Honeydew Melon is back on the shelf for the first time in a few months
