Everyone Loves The Sunshine

Especially the Growers

  • The improved weather conditions have proved favourable to growers & it’s looking like a great start to the Victorian Pea & Bean season.  Although not picking great quantities yet we are hoping for a seamless transition from Qld to Victoria with little effect on market prices.
  • Stonefruit growers are also hopeful of a bumper crop with great flower set.  Stone fruit growers need a fairly dry Spring to produce good clean fruit.  Fingers crossed we have no hail or rough weather and a bumper Cherry season ahead.
  • This week we have finally seen good quality large Pineapples return to the market with much fairer pricing for the quality & size
  • Blueberries & Strawberries are abundant & great value but Raspberries & Blackberries are in short supply.
  • Victorian Asparagus is just about hitting peak supple and this is reflected in excellent quality & much lower prices.
  • I’m pleased to see great quality Rockmelon at affordable prices back in the market.  Honeydew have excellent eating quality but are still on the pricey side.
  • While the weather has been great it has caused a spike in demand for seedless melon reflecting very high market prices.
  • Sunny day staples like tomato, lettuce and salad mix all represent great value at the moment.
